Robin Morgan
Thursday 16 May, 7.45pm

Robin Morgan is in Newport on the final night of his Honeymoon tour. Newlywed Robin has spent his actual honeymoon performing for the nation. Why? He promises you will find out at the show! This will be Robin’s second visit to Newport, the first being aged 15 as part of a death metal band called ‘Black Despondency.’

Robin said, ‘I played one gig with the band - at TJ’s in Newport. It was a battle of the bands type event. Except we had to leave before we found out the winner because I had a curfew. The gig was unremarkable except for the fact that I was heckled. I was trying very hard to fit in with this band, even though I didn’t really like the music and preferred the Killers and Keane. But they were all growing their hair long, so I tried to as well. Only problem is that my hair is quite thick and curly, so rather than growing down, it grew out. In an Afro. So, when I walked out on the TJ’s stage to what can only be described as “silence”, it was very easy for the audience to hear one man say: “good god it’s Noddy Holder.” I can only hope my tour show starts the same way.’

Buttons Undone comes to Newport’s Riverfront on June 14, 2019

Buttons Undone
Friday 14 June, 7.30pm

Welsh favourite, Owen Money brings the adult pantomime Buttons Undone this June. Written and starring pantomime legend himself, the show explores what happens with Cinderella and Prince Charming after their ‘happily ever after,’ and turns traditional panto upside down revealing its frilly bloomers. You won’t want to miss it!

La Navet Bete
Wednesday 19 June, Thursday 20 June, 7.30pm

Newport favourites Le Navet Bete return with a brand-new show. Previous performances include Dick Tracy and Dracula: The Bloody Truth, as well as riding around on unicycles while wearing purple leotards at last year’s Big Splash festival. This summer they are back as Three Musketeers, a hilarious and chaotic new comedy adventure that will have you rolling with laughter from here to the French countryside. Armed only with a baguette and his questionable steed, join hot-headed D’Artagnan as he travels to Paris full of childish excitement and misplaced bravado to become a Musketeer. Will things go to plan? It’s unlikely.

  • There are limited tickets remaining for some of these comedy shows, so to make sure you are crying with laughter and not sadness this summer book quickly! To book visit tickets.newportlive.co.uk or call 01633 656757.
