Comedy Stars Unite For Health Care Awareness In Exclusive Newport Show

They say that laughter is the best medicine – and HealthWise Wales are sure to leave you in stitches as they bring the best of Welsh comedy talent to venues across Wales this March. A line-up of all-star comedian including the likes of Noel James, Sarah Breese and Steffan Evans are coming to Newport and Caernarfon to shed a light on what we can all do to improve health care in Wales, talking about it in an open and humorous way.

Mixing seasoned performers and new talent, the line-up includes junior doctor and Edinburgh Fringe regular Ed Patrick, Noel James (Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalist), Sarah Breese (BBC’s Tourist Trap), Dan Mitchell (ITV’s Show Me The Funny finalist), neuroscientist and author Dean Burnett, Dan Thomas (BBC Radio Wales), Steffan Evans (BBC Sesh), Dan Griffiths and Sianny Thomas.

These free, exclusive nights are part of the newly launched #TogetherWeCan campaign, highlighting the importance of protecting healthcare across Wales for generations to come.

Comedian Dan Mitchell supports the initiative, having lived with epilepsy for most of his life. “Now more than ever, it’s so important that our health service can cope with the changing needs of the Welsh population. That’s why raising awareness of the ways that the public can get involved and help us protect it for the future can really make a difference. And if we can have some fun while doing it, even better!”

Chief Medical Officer for Wales, Dr Frank Atherton, has added his support to the campaign by way of encouraging more people talking about their health. “Developing best-in-class health care for Wales is a clear priority. By getting more people to talk about their health, the Comedy Clinics and HealthWise Wales can help us improve health care for future generations in Wales. I encourage as many people as possible to get behind the #TogetherWeCan campaign and do their bit for their health, their family’s health, and the health of the nation”.

The line-up and events will take place at the following venues:

15th March, The Neon, Newport:
Dan Thomas, Sianny Thomas, Dan Mitchell, Dean Burnett, Steffan Evans, Sarah Breese, Ed Patrick

26th March, Galeri, Caernarfon:

  • All tickets will be allocated as part of a prize draw – there are 45 pairs of tickets to be won for each venue. To win tickets, sign up to HealthWise Wales at Healthwisewales.gov.wales/comedy by the 6th March 2019.
