Summer Outdoor Theatre Events At Abergavenny Castle
This August, Abergavenny Museum is staging three outdoor theatre events in the surroundings of Abergavenny Castle grounds.
There’s a play that should amuse and entertain audiences of all ages, starting with a family show - an adaptation of the bestselling children’s author David Walliams by Heartbreak Productions, The Midnight Gang, on Friday 17 August, at the family friendly time of 4pm. Follow the exploits of the intrepid Midnight Gang, pursuing their dreams, making magic and mischief, and firm friends.
From the same theatre company comes an adaptation of what must be one of the most loved and best-known novels from the pen of Jane Austen, the timeless classic, Pride & Prejudice, on Wednesday 22 August at 7pm. Enjoy an evening of comedy and romance following the trials and tribulations of the Bennet sisters as they each meet their match. There’s an extra twist to this performance as the company will be giving an introductory lesson in manners and etiquette of the period to equip you for meeting some illustrious visitors. Champagne and cucumber sandwiches are permitted but do ensure you know how to properly use a napkin, remember to chew with your mouths closed, and please try not to fall in love with Mr Darcy, as we believe he is very soon to be engaged!
The season finishes on August 31 at 7pm, with a production by The Pantaloons of Oscar Wilde’s Importance of Being Earnest. This energetic and musical production from the critically-acclaimed Pantaloons infuses Wilde’s witty words with snappy new songs and frantically funny physical theatre to give this perennially popular play a hilarious contemporary twist!
- Tickets for all events are available in advance £14 full, £8 child, £40 family, from Abergavenny Museum by telephoning 01873 854282
