Bolshoi Ballet Screening of Giselle in Chepstow

Bolshoi Ballet Screening of Giselle in Chepstow

Giselle is one of the oldest and greatest ballets in the classical repertoire, a treasure of romantic ballet. It’s a tale of doomed love, betrayal, remorse and redemption through the power of love and the Bolshoi Ballet's passionate and powerful performance is set to be screened at Chepstow's Drill Hall.

When the young peasant girl, Giselle learns that her beloved Albrecht is promised to another woman, she dies of a broken heart in his arms. While Albrecht grieves, she returns from the dead as a Wili, a vengeful spirit meant to make unfaithful men dance until they die of exhaustion…

Prima ballerina Svetlana Zakharova personifies this ultimate ballerina role in the classical repertoire, alongside the sensational Sergei Polunin as Albrecht, in this chilling, yet luminous ballet that continues to captivate audiences for over 150 years at the Bolshoi.

Giselle can be seen on the big screen in Chepstow’s Drill Hall, captured and live in Moscow, on Sunday 8 April at 4pm. This is a great way to see world class ballet on your doorstep, and at a time that’s great for ballet fans of all ages.
