William Mastrosimone's Extremeties To Be Performed At Dolman Theatre

Newport Playgoers Society will present Extremeties by American playwright and screenwriter William Mastrosimone in the Dolman Theatre studio next week.

The drama, directed by Catherine Morgan, explores human nature, fear and morality - and asks the question, what would you do to survive?

Among Mastrosimone’s writing credits are the films With Honors, Into the West and the screen adaptation of Extremeties which starred Farrah Fawcett in the lead role that was originated in the stage play by Susan Sarandon.

“I found the play when I was in college in 2006 and was immediately taken with the story, so it's been a labour of love getting it to the stage,” says director Catherine Morgan, “Excitingly, I was contacted directly by the playwright, William Mastrosimone, who said he makes a point of getting in touch with companies who are putting on the play to offer advice. He is just as enthusiastic about the play as I could have hoped and he took my incessant questions and fangirling with grace.”

“He has of course been invited along to the show, but it's possible the 3000-mile distance from New York may cause a stumbling block. I'm so excited to be bringing this show to life with a stellar cast and it looks to be a truly gripping piece of theatre.”

Extremities runs each evening from September 13-16 in The Dolman Theatre studio at 7.15pm Tickets are £9 and available from www.dolmantheatre.co.uk The play is not suitable for under 15s.
