Tenth Swn Festival Hits Cardiff This Weekend

This weekend sees the Gwyl Sŵn Festival celebrate its 10th birthday with scores of gigs in a dozen and more venues in Cardiff between October 21-23.

Since it was started by organisers BBC Radio 1 DJ and TV presenter Huw Stephens and music promoter John Rostron in 2007, Sŵn (Welsh for ‘Noise’) has been a stage for Wales’ most exciting bands in English and Welsh.

With the award-winning festival celebrating its anniversary, S4C’s cameras will go backstage to give viewers an access-to-all areas pass in a two-part music documentary series to be broadcast on Saturday and Sunday, December 10 and 11.

The documentary is part of an exciting cross-platform project and producers are calling on followers of the festival to contribute to the series by sending in their own highlight clips and favourite Sŵn moments, using the #Swn10 hashtag.

As well as band performances, the two documentaries will feature memoirs, interviews and access behind the scenes as Huw and John deal with the inevitable highs and lows of organising a festival that has won the NME Best Small Festival Award.
